I have been taking feet pictures since before #WhereIStand was a thing, but I wouldn’t call feet beautiful by any means. Why then does the Bible draw attention to feet? I figure that it’s not about what they look like but rather what they enable us to do, and that is GO. Feet enable us to move beyond our current location, beyond our current situation to one where we are needed, wanted. In Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:15 we see that it is the feet of those who bring the good news that are beautiful, extraordinary. We live in a culture that loves to talk about all of the places that we have been, but I propose that life isn’t about the places we’ve been instead it’s about the places that we are going. What if we focused less on #WhereIStand and more on #WhereIGo?
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,
the good news of peace and salvation,
the news that the God of Israel reigns!
13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
